    What an awesome book!Im not a believer of diets or drastic changes in you eating habits. That only means temporary change=body a 31 y/o. No kids. Married. With a 7:30-5:00 job. A 40 minute commute. And a fitbit watch to test to achieve at least 8,000 steps a day. In other words, Im kinda normal.I always was underweight. My ideal weight used to be 106-110. Im only 5ft. When I turned 26 my weight started to change due to poor eating habits. I went to 125, then 135 and finally 145. I started watching what I was eating about two years ago, but loosing that additional weight hasn't been per my basic doc, my ideal weight for my height and age should be 115-125. I dont know how to achieve that!I do not consume sugars/sweets because I simply dont like them. My weakness is beer and buffalo wings. I dont eat salty either, it became a habit after my dad got a heart surgery about ten years breakfast is usually tea with crackers, for lunch I like soup, and dinner varies. But I think dinner is what kills me. For the most part I cook a typical Hispanic meal: rice, beans, and some sort of meat. But when I don't cook, hubby and I just order meal (pizza or Chinese).For about two years now, my weight hit the 130-135 mark. I have not been able to weight less than that.I decided to give this book a test not to achieve my ideal weight, I gave up on that a while ago. But to cleanse my system which I think is something I truly just four days I already feel the difference: Im sleeping so much better. I have so much energy and somehow, Im always satisfied (Im like that popular grumpy cat, so a satisfied face is abnormal in my case haha).Giving up meats is not a challenge (I was vegetarian for about three years, until I developed rashes and a weak inmune system). Im not that much into dairy. Fruits are the love of my life. I love bread, but I can survive without it; same with pasta. But the beer??? Oh my! I love my beer at night. Yet, I have not missed it. Im fine without it ;)Weird craving Ive been having is salt. However, I love pickled veggies, so I guess thats where the craving comes from.What makes this program simple is that you are not deprived from eating at all. If you feel hungry you obtain to eat any veggies or fruits of your choice. You also obtain to eat hard boiled eggs, which I never ate those a lot of before in my life hahaha. They are filling and very nutricious. The book does not mention a limit on eggs. I did some research and an average of 4-6 a day is completely healthy. I'm having three a day. I also snack on fruits and veggies that are not part of the smoothy of the day, that method I do not loose motivation.I am not doing the salt-water flush. Not my thing.! I will allow my body do everything on its own. Im not adding sweetners either, but thats just because as I said before, I dont like sweets. Im drinking plenty of water which I always have, and a bought a dozens of detox teas to switch stly, beautiful much all my ingredients are organic. Ive been buying organic for years now. And I am not adding any protein to my smoothies. I rather to obtain that protein from organic eggs.I will modernize this post with more results. My experience is a amazing one. I completely suggest you test this program. The only side result I experienced was a small rash by my lip. It went away in half hour and it happened on my first day. Another thing Im experiencing is something like hot-flashes hahaha... I just wake up sweating and with my body tempeture up. But I dont feel like is something bad. Maybe the sweat is the method my system is the way, I decided to take pics everyday. I wish to see the difference my self. No filters used, filters dont hack others but yourself! And, I decided to use the same outfit when taking the pictures so that the results are hopefully, more d luck trying the program!2/4/16UpdateHello everyone!I am sorry for not updating this post earlier. Believe it or not, I couldnt figure out how to do it + Im a busy , I uploaded all other nce a succesful end to my cleanse, I have continued with the modified ver (2 smoothies and a HEALTHY meal).My total loss was 10 pounds and I continue to be at 125. 125 is excellent in my case given my height and age. However, I am thinking about doing the cleanse again soon; not to lose weight, but to obtain rid of xmas/new yrs/vacation toxins :)I have to admit that my eating habits completely changed. I continue to crave fruits and veggies on a everyday basis. To me that is the most interesting part of all. I continue to indulge on buffalo wings and beer over the weekends and my results continue to be the same. By The way, on the weekends I rarely drink smoothies; I eat 2-3 meals and feel just fine. However, and once again, my meals are healthy. I kinda became a pesquetarian, all I eat is fish and lots of veggies.On another note, I gave a test to three various things mentioned in the book: sea-salt water flush (I add a lime to it to create it easier to drink) and oh my if I recommend it, it makes me feel digestively clean :). I also bought Mag07 and wow! JJ Smith is right about those pills, is a amazing method to stay regular and support your digestive system stay healthy. Finally, I did the liver cleanse (8oz water and 2tbs apple cider vinegar) and my waist has gotten thinner.I continue to go to the book all the time. I obtain recipes from there, and I just go back to her different nce, I bought another book with hundreds of green smoothie recipes. I like JJ Smith's recipes better because are less sweeter, but nonetheless, the other book helps me hold up with my routine too.I developed a method: Once a month I obtain a shopping list ready. I separate all recipes on ziploc bags and freeze them. The night before I take them out and done! I waste no time making my everyday dose of health.I also bought a Ninja blender. Mine was a little one and I had to create a smoothie at a time (no time for that in the am). Im totally in love with my fresh blender because I create 2-3 cups of the same smoothie at once.Feel free to ask me questions.I continue to recommend the book. Im also very active in JJ Smith's twitter acc because the program worked like a charm in my case. I love my fresh eating habits and how I feel in general, and thats all thanks to JJ st note: people constantly compliment me on my skin and hair, people do message my weight loss, and people continue to talk about how cheerful I am most of the time which I search hillarious given how grumpy I am ha!Best of luck to those considering the cleanse.

    Today is July 3rd and I'm on day 4 of the 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse and I am almost 10 pounds down. I wish to lose at least 30-50 pounds. I am a naturally curvy woman and have never been overweight. I gained weight over the latest few years because I wasn't eating enough and my metabolism was very very slow. I've never been much of a huge eater, but I am Southern and from Louisiana and our meal consists of rice and other thick gravies which can cause weight gain if you're sedentary. I didn't have the energy to move around like I did when I worked, so I gained weight. Anyway, I decided to begin walking 10,000 steps a day and because I have anemia and hypothyroidism I decided to test the modified ver of the 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse and was shocked! In only 4 days I am down a dress size! I don't look at the scale much since sometimes we lose inches and not pounds, but I feel amazing. My energy is through the roof and I feel like I'm 21 though I just turned 41. I love the group on Fb and I love the book! It's very simple to follow and you won't be hungry. If you can create it past the first 48 hours, you can do all 10 days with ease. This book is very informative and it has amazing smoothie recipes. Best of all, the approved foods to begin the cleanse is very affordable. I'm now doing 100 jump squats a day in addition to exercising everyday and doing cardio 3 days a week. JJ has a 30 day squat challenge and I already do 100 squats a day. Doing jump squats and sumo squats has me feeling amazing. I cannot wait to see what my 10 day results will be. This is not a diet, it's a lifestyle. I will test my best to eat this method forever. I was tired of pills, teas, and diets that didn't work. I'm so grateful to JJ for sharing this with the world. If you have weight to lose or if you wish to cleanse and detox, I highly recommend this cleanse and this book! It has changed countless lives! Hundreds of thousands of people's lives are being changed thanks to JJ and this book!

    I decided to test the cleanse and lost 11. 6 lbs, 4.5 inches of my waist, 5.5 inches of my hips. This is not diet, but a lifestyle change. I am still doing my green smoothies every morning and healthy snacks and meals throughout the day.

    I love this book and am glad I ordered it. I started May 21, 2018 - June 1, 2018. During this time period I messed up 3-4 times and still lost 10lbs. I believe I could have lost more had I not messed up during the 10 day cleanse by eating non recommended items. I feel better so much better! I look better! In 7 days my stomach was noticeably flatter to my husband and kids. Today June 5, 2018 I still have a smoothie for breakfast, lunch and dinner with recommended snacks. If I wish to eat a salad or a cup of coffee, etc... I have it. I don't like how I feel after eating meat now so I haven't had much. I DON'T CRAVE SWEET! I actually crave fruits and vegetables!

    It's been 2.5 months since I did the 10-day green smoothie cleanse and adopted the healthier lifestyle JJ Smith outlines in her book.I am down 30 lbs and have never felt better. I've gotten used to the smoothies - prep and clean-up for smoothies takes a lot less time than for a regular food - and have a couple every day. If you've struggled to obtain healthier and need a easy guide, this could change your life.

    I just received the book very quick delivery!!!! Impressed! I watch a few of JJ's starter videos and also a user's video on youtube. I am so glad I did! A lot of amazing snack ideas I would of never thought of! I also read her book entirely. Okay latest night I weighed myself and I weighed 185.2 lbs. I am 5'9. I re-weighed myself this morning and I weigh 182.6 lbs. So this is my starting weight going into the 1st day of cleanse. I am drinking a green smoothie as I am typing this review...lol The smoothie actually tastes really good!!! I will create sure I have a smoothie or snack every 3 hours. I am doing the "Full Cleanse Summary" version. I will do an modernize on Day 5 as well as Day 10 so everyone can see my progress. I wish to obtain down to at least 165lbs in the next few months. That is my ideal weight range.**Update 8/28/2017**Well I have so far lost 2lbs but I actually cheated on Saturday. Family came from out of city and we watched Mayweather/Connor war and boy did I splurge Saturday. Had some amazing meal and drank lol. I weigh 180lbs right now. I went back on the diet on Sunday. So I was only off 1 day. So I will be back Friday to do finally 10 day update. My goal is to obtain to a minimum 175lbs by the end of the week. I do not wish to lose too much weight too fast.*****Update 9/2/2017**** WOW!!! I just weighed myself this morning and I weigh 174.8lbs!!!!! So this 10 day Green Smoothie cleanse works! I am beyond pleased! I did the full ver except I cheated 1 day. I did have headaches on day 2 & 3 but I survived! The only negative is that for 2 weeks I spent close to $160.00 for the 10 days following the recipes exact. So it is hefty on the wallet but I am so happy with the results! The huge thing is that it really works!!!

    This Book is awesome, I did the 10 day Green smoothies with some exercise I lost 20 pounds and 18 inches. You have to do what the book tell you, you will feel horrible for the first couple of day.

    I lost 10 lbs in 10 days!! Definitely, not simple at all but mind or matter. I think the smoothie recipes are very yummy!. I wanted to cry on day 3 and 4, but I pushed thru it and loving life and myself today. I snacked on raw nuts, carrots w/ no sugar or salt added peanut butter (1 tps) and only ate boil eggs (max 2 a day). I also did not feel the need for the added stevia, the fruits has enough sweetener to me. Overall, everything is better... my mood is phenomenal, my energy, my digestion system, my outlook on life & lots more benefits. If you are reading this, you are on the right path and definitely can do this!! Amazing Luck.

    Was excited to test this cleanse. Followed to a T, and 7 lbs initially within the first 4 days. Ended up back at starting weight at end of 10 days. Second and third day were worst on withdrawal symptoms. Did workouts everyday and was drinking 120-150 oz h2o. Had very small energy and felt incredibly weak for remainder of cleanse. Will be trying 30 day cleanse, adding Magnesium to see if digestive problems improve. Overall, very disappointing as I was hoping for some results to kickstart my fresh year.

The only negative is that for 2 weeks I spent close to $160.00 for the 10 days following the recipes exact. So it is hefty on the wallet but I am so happy with the results! The huge thing is that it really works!!!

    I lost 10 lbs in 10 days!! Definitely, not simple at all but mind or matter. I think the smoothie recipes are very yummy!. I wanted to cry on day 3 and 4, but I pushed thru it and loving life and myself today. I snacked on raw nuts, carrots w/ no sugar or salt added peanut butter (1 tps) and only ate boil eggs (max 2 a day). I also did not feel the need for the added stevia, the fruits has enough sweetener to me. Overall, everything is better... my mood is phenomenal, my energy, my digestion system, my outlook on life & lots more benefits. If you are reading this, you are on the right path and definitely can do this!! Amazing Luck.

    Was excited to test this cleanse. Followed to a T, and 7 lbs initially within the first 4 days. Ended up back at starting weight at end of 10 days. Second and third day were worst on withdrawal symptoms. Did workouts everyday and was drinking 120-150 oz h2o. Had very small energy and felt incredibly weak for remainder of cleanse. Will be trying 30 day cleanse, adding Magnesium to see if digestive problems improve. Overall, very disappointing as I was hoping for some results to kickstart my fresh year.

    I've gotten used to the smoothies - prep and clean-up for smoothies takes a lot less time than for a regular food - and have a couple every day and if you've struggled to obtain healthier and need a easy guide, this could change your life and the author lays out everything recipes, how you will feel, ingredients and best of all the method you can do the cleanse and you can cleanse for 10 with green smoothie and 2 to 3 little portioned and recommend snacks or you can go with the intermittent options where you drink the green smoothie for breakfast and lunch then have a sensible dinner and it was a amazing cleanse experience.

    The book will tell you everything you need to know and respond all your questions. I was very hesitant about trying the smoothies at first because I just love food, but this truly works. I've been a yoyo dieter my whole life, but now that I've finished the ten days I'm literally drinking them twice a day daily with a healthy dinner at night. I feel full and don't have the cravings I used to. She is by far the best author I've come across as far as explaining and breaking everything down for I plan to begin working out soon and will continue to drink green smoothies.

    This works. I am a 70-year-old grandmother with three children living out their dreams. Despite media tip and heavy-duty pressure of a mate not to interfere, I did work with my children because both my husband and I derailed ourselves at different times during our schooling. I thought it would be irresponsible not to test to hold our children on a amazing path with their schoolwork. One of my children was a bit wild and impulsive - would rather play than use his brain. Another was dyslexic and undiagnosed. My husband is a natural teacher and enjoyed introducing ideas at dinner. He did this just for fun and not as part of any conscious program. I tried to enforce discipline and skill development. We didn't plan this. We just had various personalities and we're trying to be helpful in our own I wish to begin my three-year-old granddaughter, who is playful and easily distractible, on a amazing path. Our family was not born into wealth and privilege. What we have gained has come through our academic opportunities. I don't wish my granddaughter to waste time in school and miss opportunities as my husband and I did. Finally, thanks to the confirmation given by this book for what I am attempting to do, I am working with my granddaughter on being consistent at practicing reading. She seems to be a sight reader rather than a phonics reader as my son was. She easily memorized Eric Carle's Are You My Cat? My husband thought she was reading it, but the book is simple to memorize because it repeats two sentences over and over. There is one odd word - where - and she couldn't read it. So she is not a genius and will have to work at it. We are working on the word cat and all the words in the -at family since she knows most of the sounds. By practicing everyday for about five mins a day for about a week she can sometimes recognize cat and sat. However, for me, the goal is not making her read early - it's about developing amazing habits in her schoolwork.When I saw my granddaughter's lack of consistency and innate playfulness, I wanted to nip it in the bud before she became an underachiever. This book really explains how to meet my goals by tailoring my efforts to the needs of the kid - how to avoid overdoing or boring her to death. Despite all my years working with children, this book taught me how to be more effective by taking cues from the kid rather than imposing some kind of program.Update - She lost interest in reading, but now she is interested in where out of state relatives live. She is working on a puzzle of the United States and asks for info about each state. So we continue our dialogue about learning. It's amazing to be talking now in case we need lines of communication later. And, if I should live so long, we may have mutual interests so we have something to talk about once she grows up.

    Giving it 4 stars because it doesn't apply to me (yet, my son is just about to turn 4 y/o 😁. Partly my fault because I didn't read the book description, just got caught with it's title.) But what I really liked about this book is the author's humility in sharing his story. I know it's very hard for parents to admit when their children are not doing very well, call it pride. But the author didn't shy on sharing what's wrong with his son, which created his statements very true and relatable. I was also able to pick-up a lot of motivational, quotable quotes. Although I won't be able to apply this just yet, it definitely gave me an idea as to how I would handle myself and my son if we ever face the same situation. Amazing luck to the author and may God bless him and his family.

    I am a high school teacher. I have read a lot of books on education and tried a lot of methods of teaching in my class. Some work, some don't work.I have drawn several conclusions from these experiences. All education either in the classroom or in the home must have easy steps and must also be consistent. I think that Michal has come to the same e book outlines Michal's attempt to support his son in school. He focuses on reading and then describes his easy system to improve reading. The system is not fancy, is consistent and achieves the desired results. His son gets better grades. This effect is all I could ask for in my class and should be what any parent wants for their child.I strongly recommend the book.

    The first thing I have to say is that this is not the best title for a book – it is unwieldy and, dare I say, a small pompous. However, like the author, I have a ten year old boy who – despite having a high reading age and amazing scores at school generally – struggles with certain subjects; in my own son’s case reading comprehension. When I starting reading this, especially the parts about the author’s own son and his reading style, my initial thoughts were that they mirrored my own son’s reading behaviour. I am not sure how helpful this book would be if your kid had a issue with maths or science, although much of the tip is general and makes excellent sense. However, the author has also written a book about speed reading and a lot of of the strategies he employed with his son were very useful to me. I have implemented his suggested everyday reading assignment and have found that it really has helped improve both his concentration and speed. As the author explains, the slower you read, the less you comprehend, and so the exercises in this book have noticeably increased his understanding of what he has is is a short book, but if you are struggling with a kid who is either under-achieving, unmotivated or struggling at school, you will search some very useful tip and suggestions within its pages. The author is keen to stress that he also suffers from the demands on his time that all busy parents struggle with. However, he also points out that nobody will care about a child’s education and well-being like their parents and, importantly, he helps explain what you can achieve with consistency and effort. A amazing and useful book and I am happy I read it.

    Having grown my share of sprouts in mason jars (lots of rinsing; very small output + associated health risks with li and salmonella) and experimented with indoor micro greens (complicated and expensive) I was delighted to explore Peter Burke's easy soil sprout method. Follow the directions outlined in the book and you can't go wrong; you will be harvesting ultra-fresh, delicious organic greens from your windowsill in less than 10 days. For me it is 7 or 8 days, which I think is impressive. The author clearly knows his topic and has thought through every e book is comprehensive, well-organized, and generously and helpfully illustrated. The author's tone is friendly and encouraging. Getting started is simple, just gather up a short list of supplies -I had almost everything at home. If aluminum foil pans don't appeal to you, visit your local thrift shop or a yard sale and pick up a couple dozen cereal bowls to use for planters. Book contains contingency plans for when your schedule goes off course and your indoor garden gets ce recipe section inspires reader to use soil sprouts in salads, stir fries, soups, dip, tempura, sandwiches, wraps, and the workday lunchbox. Seed by Seed index is a goldmine of information for 25+ types of greens you can e author recommends beginning with buckwheat, pea, sunflower, daikon, and broccoli, which I did. I have since added popcorn, Chinese cabbage, adzuki beans, Tuscan black kale, garnet amaranth, purple kohlrabi, and a French Garden mixture which contains clover, cress, arugula and lentils. Without exception every bowl I have planted has yielded a attractive "head" of greens...and yellows, reds, pinks and even purples and I am shocked at how simple and enjoyable it is! I want I had thought of this method! But since I did not, I am glad Peter Burke did.

    In addition to being an outdoor organic gardener for over 40 years from Central America to Alaska, I have done sprouts in jars using a rinsing method, and I have grown micro greens in winter in standard seed flat trays. Peter Burke's soil sprouting way is infinitely superior to the jars, and it is faster in terms of usable veggies than micro greens. I suspect the effect is not as nutrient dense as the micro greens, but it is clearly a very valuable growing technique since it requires much less time, zone and light.I purchased and read the book about three weeks ago. It is well written and reflects the author's long term thought and experimentation with his subject. The illustrations are great.I determined to bow to his obvious wisdom and follow his instructions exactly as written. As a effect we have enjoyed huge quantities of kale, sunflower, and broccoli sprouts in salads and smoothies for not quite two weeks.What will I change? I am not going to use the aluminum baking pans long term because of concerns of toxicity and cost of replacement. But the SIZE of the pans is perfect. The soil depth is required to hold things from drying out, and the quantity of one dozens produced in the pans is just right for two of us. Also, since I have a soil heating mat, I'm trying some bottom heat to obtain more uniform sprouting, but the sprouts are fine without the heat reason I believe the microgreens are more nutrient dense is they grow longer, about three weeks total, and have more time to start taking upnutrients in my soil mix. I did add the thin layer of compost and kelp food under the peat moss and vermiculite as Peter directed, but I'm wondering is the soil sprouts are metabolizing any of those nutrients or just utilizing the seed resources. If the latter is the case, the quality of the seed alone would determine the nutrient density of the soil sprouts. I'm going to grow some controls without the kelp and compost and see if there is any visible difference. Perhaps the author is aware of some chemical analysis done of sprouts that would respond the question?Eliot Coleman describes somewhere the French shop gardeners who placed a clump of inverted sod under cucumbers to rot and enhance fertility. I will save the root mass, soil, compost and kelp "brick" left over after harvest for that same ly, I think the way is a unbelievable addition to our private resiliency. A bag of sunflower seeds in storage could yield enormous quantities of new vegetables any time of the year in a anks Peter Burke!

    I am so very thrilled with this book and Peter's well laid out instructions! I really hesitated on buying the book, so sorry that I delayed. It really helped me to obtain up and running with his amazing ideas. I can tailor it easily to how much salad I need and don't have to do the everyday planting. It is so very yummy to have the freshest salad greens when I'm ready for them!I live in Tx and it gets so hot so quick that salad greens can be impossible to grow. Not to mention just not up to getting out in the heat. Now, I can garden in the comfort of my home! Not only the comfort, but now I have soil sprouts ready to harvest in 7 -10 days! That's instant gratification gardening! Jar sprouts can take longer than that at times and there's more of a possibility with mold. I've not had any issue with the soil sprouts doing this! It's wonderful! Yes, obtain the book! Thank you so very much Peter!Grabbed a bamboo shelf from Amazon and used a bungee cord to keep it in my window to give additional space. Works beautifully, but you don't have to go to that much trouble. Any windowsill will do, even if it doesn't obtain much sunlight. Off to have fun my beautiful window garden that I can eat too!

    I really appreciate this straightforward tutorial to growing your own salad green sprouts. I have wanted to grow salad greens indoors for quite a while but I didn't wish to deal with the problem of having to set up lights and the long wait from seed to salad. I search the salad green sprouts to be the excellent fit for what I wish because they grow quickly with only the light from a window. They taste delicious and are much easier to grow indoors than salad is book does a amazing job of going over all the info of growing indoor salad sprouts as well as describing what seed varieties are best for sprouts. It's totally worth buying if you like the idea of growing your own sprouts! I spend about 10-15 minute a day preparing my salad green sprouts (you plant fresh pans every day so you have a everyday supply), and it's really as simple as the book describes.

    Not thrilled about this book after receiving it. The title is extremely misleading. Year-Round "Salad" Gardening means to me that this book will teach you how to grow produce for a salad indoors. What comes to mind when you hear the word salad? I think lettuce, spinach, and all other veggies that you typically cut up and add to your salad. Instead, this book tells you how to grow what I would consider Micro Greens or Sprouts. On a shelf. In front of a window. Revolutionary idea, right?! That is not a salad to me or anyone in my family. That is something I would feed to my chickens as a treat. Would not recommend.

    I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! . I am planning to go commercial, as I need supplementary income badly, and this is the ticket. From fearful of my financial future, I am feeling calm and confident! Mr. Burke is so completely thorough about every aspect of this NEW (to me) craft that I am amazed he missed one very little point. You plant a teaspoon, or a table spoonful of seed, but the sellers give you packets with 100 or 200 seeds, or ounces or pounds of seeds, and I don't know how a lot of tablespoons of sunflower seeds are in a half pound of seed. I'll figure this soon enough. I will create myself a chart of seed sizes, quantities, and weights, I guess.But , after all, this book is utterly fantastic! It is so complete that I feel rotten about complaining. There are no other books about this sure fire this book, it could change your life! It did mine.

I purchased two versions of the book because I knew that I wanted to read the book and highlight immediately AND have a copy for fast reference While enjoying the photos. I read the Kindle ver completely upon receipt. As soon as I received tpaperback version, I knew exactly which pages I wanted to highlight, underline, and affix post-its e next day after completing the Kindle ver of the book, I went to the dollar tree and spent $23 on supplies. I already had the soil mix, compost, and liquid nutrients due to having planted a patio garden this year.I enjoyed my patio garden even though the yield was relatively low. The flowers did great! I had an upright 50 count plant container that I used this year for the first time. While it did produce a lot of greens, kale, collards, onions etc., the bugs were a problem! Lots of cabbage white moths, eggs, and caterpillars had to be picked off daily.I next ordered a Vegepod which is a planting container set up from a company in Australia. I just now set it up. It is November in California and we just had our first rain yesterday. Unfortunately, the seedlings arrived before the perlite so I wasn’t able to completely set the Vegepod up before the first know what I WAS able to do?     I've been looking for a method to increase my intake of greens between growing veggies and someone mentioned I should look into microgreens. I did a lot of research and accidentally stumbled onto this book. The way is simple, interesting and e author calls these Soil Sprouts. Quicker to harvest than microgreens and, in my opinion, less possibility to obtain sick from sprouts.While i'm sure you can search info on this all over the internet, you're not going to search everything you need in one put like you would in this book. It provides knowledge, step by step instructions and even the type of seeds you could use for the best yield. The ratio of seeds per container was particularly useful.I've started my first batch of radish sprouts and this is what they look like on day 5 (picture attached). Few hours in the morning day light and they greened up right away. I was actually impressed by how accurate the yield rate seems to be.

    The best book on the subject, by far. I've been growing large amounts of microgreens like a pro. I would, however, recommend experimenting with using slightly less water than the book recommends, personally. And brown paper started to mold, so don't reuse them indefinitely, and give them time to dry in between uses. I had more luck with organic cotton baby hand-towels. Other than that minor tweaks, this system REALLY works. I recommend Handy Pantry for sourcing organic seeds.

    I'll place the summary upfront: using the principles and plans in the 10-Day Detox Diet, I lost 12 lbs in the first 10 days, a total of 21 lbs in the first 30 days and now 30 lbs total in the first 50 days. (Update: as of August 2015 I've lost 60 lbs total). In addition, my overall feeling of health and my energy levels increased greatly.A small about me: I'm in my mid-fifties and am a relatively big-framed guy who stands 6'1" and weighed 310 pounds when I started this plan. That was about 110 lbs overweight as my ideal weight is about 200 pounds (it's been a long time since I've been there so I'll allow you know for sure when I obtain there).This book was recommended to me by a life coach I was seeing. I purchased the 10-Day Detox Diet, read it thoroughly and loved the sound science and principles behind the ideas. Following the plans in the book, I prepped my refrigerator and pantry, purchased vitamin supplements and fiber pills, tapered back on Dove dark chocolates (my main addictive habit), picked the day I would begin and jumped in.I haven't felt hungry d things that have happened in the first 50 days: I lost 30 pounds and 1.5 inches off my neck and 3 inches off my waist (just a representative sample; I slimmed down in other locations on my body as well). My cravings for fatty foods and sugar disappeared. I'm sleeping better, some nagging inflammation in my knees cleared up and my digestive elimination challenges cleared up. My patience increased for handling both my interpersonal relationships and life's small problems. I have more energy for work and throughout the day. My overall feeling of health improved greatly. I feel like, after all the efforts I have created to lose weight over the years and after all the ups and downs my weight has been through, I've finally found the right set of intellectual tools to approach eating. Feeling this amazing is motivation enough to hold me eating healthy for the rest of my ter about 20 days on the plan I also went back to Amazon and purchased Dr. Hyman's Blood Sugar Solution Cookbook to expand my access to extra recipes. Once I got the hang of how Dr. Hyman combines the ingredients for dishes and meals, I started experimenting with carefully modifying some recipes to tweak them for my own particular culinary preferences. If you use amazing common sense it's simple to mix and match ingredients and spices to tailor dishes and meals to your liking. I have fun cooking and like to experiment in the kitchen. Your mileage may vary and the provided recipes are just fine the method they are presented. I'll hold doing this as long as my weight loss continues apace and my overall feeling of health stays strong. If I go too far afield, I'll just move back closer to the original recipes.'The true trick now is making sure I eat healthy over the long term. I already passed my first huge test: a long overdue vacation at an ocean-side resort with lots of social interaction and eating out at restaurants. During the short trip I managed to lose 5 lbs instead of gaining weight as I likely would have in the past. Once again, I feel like I have the tools I need in Dr. Hyman's program to handle all de note: I did a sleep study three months ago and was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. A lot of overweight people who snore loudly like me have sleep apnea and don't know it. Since I was tested, and prior to starting the 10-Day Detox diet, I started on a CPAP machine and have been diligent about using it so I credit this with also helping me to have the energy to face up to my dietary challenges. I think it would have been much more difficult to lose weight without also dealing with this condition first.I believe amazing health is a combination of restful sleep, breathing new air, drinking lots of new water, eating healthy meal of high quality, mitigating stress and exercising regularly. I feel I have the other stuff in order and now I will tackle the stress and regular exercise of luck on your particular journey toward health. The 10-Day Detox Diet continues to work well for me, perhaps it will work for you too. Highly recommended.Update July 2014: In the first 100 days I have lost 44 lbs and feel great. I'm sticking with the principles laid out in Dr. Hyman's books as they are working well for me.Update September 2014: I hit my halfway point and I'm now down 55 lbs. This feels amazing as I've struggled with my weight most of my adult life. Best of all, others around me have taken inspiration. One person I know has lost over 40 pounds in the latest three months just by utilizing info from Dr. Hyman's books that we talked about and is now at his ultimate goal weight and is very trim! I'll obtain there too. The key for me is that I don't feel deprived. I eat plenty of amazing meal but now just the meal that is amazing for me. The rate of my weight loss has slowed but is still steady. I now need to concentrate on making regular exercise a part of my life.Update January 2015: My weight loss has plateaued at 55 lbs down for the latest 4 months and I still have 55 lbs more to lose. I just saw my cardiologist and he is very satisfied with my progress and my blood work showed large improvement from before I started this lifestyle change to now. To continue my weight loss I need to trim back my portion sizes a small and begin exercising consistently. I'm confident I'll obtain to my goal weight of 200 lbs or less in 2015. I'm sticking with Dr. Hyman's program.Update August 2015: This hasn't been a linear and simple journey but I'm back on the right path. Earlier this year, I slowly place on 10 lbs to 265 lbs as a response to stress from challenges I experienced both professionally and personally. Also, I noticed Dr. Hyman's program shared a lot of similarities with the Paleo diet and I experimented with combining the two programs. I feel my main issue is portion control. I have the mistaken idea that if something is healthy to eat you can have as much of it as you want. This is not real for me particularly when it comes to animal proteins and excuses though. I started exercising regularly and have been briskly walking for about 40 mins per day, 7 days per week for the latest three months. The scale didn't move for me though until I created some changes to my portions that were holding me back. I trimmed back on my animal protein portions at each meal, chop out the snacking on cheese that had crept in and reduced the portion size on nuts that are my go-to snack. Now, between the portion control and regular exercise, the scale is going down and I've lost 15 pounds in the latest month. I'm now at 250 lbs for a total weight loss of 60 lbs. My goal weight remains 200 lbs so I have a ways to go but I'm feeling amazing about what I'm doing.I have recommended the 10-day Detox Diet to several people who have asked me how I've lost weight. Those that have purchased the book, read it thoroughly and adopted Dr. Hyman's principles have successfully lost weight and cleared up some health concerns as well. I continue to highly recommend this book and the information it contains. Be well!

    First off, allow me say, I am not a man. I won't be reporting a 30 lb. weightloss in 30 days. Not happening. I'm a 49 year old, pre-menopausal woman. I had 3 children in the span of 5 years between the ages of 37 and 42. Not an simple task at that age from a weightloss standpoint. After my first was born, I did WW and had no issue taking the weight off. After the second, it wasn't so simple and after the third, all but impossible. I've been a vegetarian for 30 years and a vegan for 3. I know a lot about nutrition, or at least what the nutritionists have told us was right. I'm not at all blowing smoke when I tell you I eat around 1200 calories a day and workout 4-5 times per week doing vigorous workouts. None of it mattered. Nothing worked. Nothing.I went to my basic care physician and had a long conversation with her about my unhappiness with my weight. She commented that my BMI wasn't all that poor and that, perhaps, "this is just who you are". What??? That statement very much felt like giving up and the fact that I took the time to discuss this with her was evidence that I wasn't ready to give up just yet. I was starting to feel like I was living in someone else's body. I often felt anxious and jittery. Was this pre-diabetes? For a couple of years, I was convinced it was my thyroid - mostly because I couldn't figure out why nothing would work. Then I'd have my thyroid tested and it would come back normal. I chalked it up to pre-menopause hormonal issues and figured I'd just continue to be overweight.I decided to give the 10-day detox a try. Why not? I've bought so a lot of books over the years in a desperate attempt to figure out what's wrong....what's one more, right? I was a bit worried that being a vegan would slow my weightloss compared to non-vegans. Given the results he reports in the book from his study group, it has not slowed my progress at all. I started the plan nearly a month ago exactly. With two days to go in my month, I've lost 12 pounds. I even got stuck at the same weight for a week and a half and still lost 12 pounds! And, much of that was without strenuous workouts because my body had a tough time adjusting to the low carb diet. I was lacking energy, etc... I did not hack at all. Never once. I didn't follow the menus completely, but followed the guidelines. Shake for breakfast, protein and veggies/greens for lunch and dinner. Only in the first couple of days did I feel hungry. After that, my body adjusted and I now feel happy after every meal. I take the PGX pills regularly. I love that you are able to season your meal on this diet. So a lot of other diets I've tried eliminate sodium almost completely. Eating becomes so boring, you wish to gag. I obtain to use salt and pepper and onion powder and tamari, etc... It makes eating so enjoyable. Who knew that what I was eating before was so wrong for me? Whole grains, etc... I won't lie and tell you my cravings are gone. I don't know who those people are, but I've had 49 years of conditioning to make those cravings. They're not going to disappear in 30 days. I still crave bread when I smell it being toasted and often crave something sweet (dark chocolate) after r several years, I'd seen my blood pressure be slightly elevated at the doctor's office. I'd always chalked it up to white coat hypertension because I could go back home and obtain a lower reading with my own cuff. However, those readings were always in the 135/85 neighborhood. Not horrible, but they could stand to be lower. After one week on this diet, I started getting readings of 125/75 and my lowest was 118/70. Beautiful awesome.I can't say enough amazing things about how this book is written. It makes so much smart sense. I also bought his "Eat Fat, Obtain Thin" book, but have decided to stay on the 10-day detox (as he recommends) since I have 30 lbs to lose. If you're a woman of that certain age who has struggled to lose weight no matter what you try, give this a try. If it worked for me, you'll likely have success too. Thank you, Dr. Hyman!

    First things first, the results after 10-days. I've lost a total of 7.75” and 8 lbs. Whoooohooo!Start each day with a Smoothie (there are several choices). Dr. H recommends drinking water with PGX prior to all meals but I add it to my smoothie instead of drinking it separately because I search that drinking 'globby' water disgusting (mouth feel). I don’t add the PGX to my other meals because I search they all keep me over well. For lunch, salad with protein, dinner is veggies and protein. And yes, there are snacks of nuts and veggies with dips. Essentially, you are cutting out easy carbs and sugars (bread, pasta, starchy veggies, dairy, caffeine and alcohol). Also, he gives two options of food planning..one that is easy and one that requires more cooking. I search that preparation = success so I shopped on Sunday, prepped several meals (especially the shakes!) and started on Monday (I’ve become addicted to Mason Jar meals!). Following the 10-days there are options on how to proceed to lose more, check gluten/dairy sensitivities and how to create this a lifestyle.I found the program simple to stick with. When I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's (Thyroid disease) I had several Clients who also have it explain the benefits of kicking Gluten to feel better. I had done it before and I felt great..MORE energy for sure! This was a amazing kickstart to obtain me back into that lifestyle. I guess the only reason I didn’t stick with it is because I had a lot of stressful life changes (all for the positive, but stressful nonetheless) and reached for things that comforted me..of course, one of those things was food! Usually I breeze through Detoxes and this time, I really just wanted a glass of wine! For MY sake, I didn't give in and turned to my To Do List. And like any 'craving', it passed. You have to do this with the mindset that YOU are in CONTROL and you CAN do this! You WILL do this! YOU decide every day whether you will succeed or fail with this detox (or any program) and allow me tell you, it's SO simple to succeed! You just have to be ready (that’s the necessary part).Personally, I have found that making a list of things to do to hold you busy during times of stress or cravings during this program to be helpful. I walked/played with my dogs, guided medatations (thanks to youtube!), pulled out a couple books I’ve wanted to read (get lost in), set up a workout routine. I also turned to Bach Remedies to ease stress/cravings and it was SO helpful! Finally, I tackled my ‘Spring Cleaning’..why wait?! So, not only did I lose weight, I also have an extremely clean & organized pantry, office, linen closet, bathroom, bedroom, etc.!Finally, don’t forget to set up some kind of a reward for yourself (besides feeling better) whether it’s a facial, massage, mani/pedi, etc. hold your eye on the prize! And remember, if you cheat, your only cheating yourself! Hold trying..you can do it!Sidenote: I didn’t give up Caffeine (I use the 1/2 caf Nespresso pods). The latest time I gave up caffeine I had almost debilitating headaches and I need to be able to engage with my Clients without wanting to scream!

    I am not one to write reviews, but I am so thrilled with this book. My mates were all doing the Whole 30. I didn't think I could do this kind of set for 30 days so I did some research and found this book. I told myself I could do this for just 10 days and see if I noticed anything different. I had been having headache and migraine headaches and started having more of them. Would obtain 2-4 each month. Tension headaches just became part of my life. I did not have much energy either.I started the 10 day sugar detox and thought it was going to be very hard (I always said I was a chocoholic and a sweetaholic) so I figured I would struggle. I created it through the first day with flying colors, and it kept getting easier. I have to say, I never craved sugar, and that was a fresh thing for me!!After 10 days I lost 14 pounds and did not have a single headache. I decided to hold going. After 30 days, I have lost 23 pounds. Weeks 3-4 I did not loose an ounce, but hold telling myself it is not about losing the weight as much as feeling better. I still have not had a single headache. Everyone should read this book and do away with the processed foods. Sure want I would've found this book a long time ago!!I can't thank you enough for writing this book and am so thankful I found it. This has completely changed my life!!!

    At age 68 with my elbows looking like hamburger from badly inflamed psoriasis and with knuckles, ears, knees, ankles and thighs beginning to be affected, and shedding sheets and flakes of skin, my yoga instructor observed my condition might represent systemic toxicity. She had experience with Dr. Hyman’s blood sugar detox and suggested I give it a go. My dermatologist was offering an injection with a $1,500.00 a month co-pay over a year-long course of treatment that might clear 80% of my inflammation. There is no psoriasis cure.Within three days of beginning this detox, there began to be discernible improvement in the inflammation. 10-days became 20, then 30, and I began to experiment with reintroducing gluten and dairy in limited amounts but otherwise eating wisely as instructed. It’s now been 3 months. I’ve dropped from 202 lbs. to 182 as of this morning. My blood pressure is excellent. The everyday brisk 30-minute walk before breakfast has noticeably improved my cardio-vascular health. I haven’t felt this amazing in 30 years. And this diet has effected 60% clearance, at a minimum. I can live with that. Thank you Dr. Hyman.

    Eliminate all dairy, coffee, all flour, rice and legumes, wheat and oats and processed foods. Also, take away any sugar and anything that turns into sugar including all alcohol and fruit except for a couple mentioned in morning shake. Now, Take specifically outlined vitamins, supplements and Pgx fiber before breakfast and dinner then it's beautiful primary eating plan. 4-6 oz of protein with unlimited non starchy veggies. Drink 8 glasses of water and excercise 30 mins a day. There you have it. The entire book in one paragraph.

    I didn't do the 10-Day Detox Diet as directed in the book since I had heart surgery two years ago, so couldn't take the supplements. I started with just the smoothies and soup the first week. The second week, I stuck with smoothies, soup for lunch and dinners (which are delish and leave me feeling satisfied). I've lost 7 lbs. But, the best part about this detox is I am totally done with sugar. I don't crave it at all anymore. Usually by 1PM I would be jonesing for a chocolate bar. Or after dinner I would wish pie or ice cream. I really don't wish anything with sugar (except fruits and veggies). I even created my husband a batch of brownies and didn't have a crumb, or lick the bowl. I am so amazed at how much better I feel. So I will continue this modified method of eating for awhile. Yeah losing the weight is nice, but feeling better is awesome!

    Can you actually begin turning your health around in 10 days? Yes, you certainly can, and this book is an perfect tutorial to Hyman's famous and science-based plan to "resetting" your body and ridding it of toxins -- most especially sugar. Be warned: this plan goes far beyond diet alone. It is radical and time-consuming, and most people will search it a shocking change from their usual eating and living habits. But if you are ready to overcome simple habits in order to lose weight and improve your health, Hyman is an perfect guide. He walks you through the plan in amazing detail, explaining the science and rationale behind each facet of it. Hyman is both firm and upbeat, half doctor, half life coach. By the time you've finished this book, you'll be convinced of the menace of "diabesity" and rarin' to give up poor habits like sugary drinks and processed foods.Dr. Hyman states his philosophy simply as "out with the poor and in with the good." The "bad" is sugar, gluten, grains, dairy, beans, processed foods, certain oils, alcohol and caffeine. The "good" is detoxing foods -- whole, unprocessed foods like new vegetable, proteins (fish, poultry, meat), and healthy fats. The plan goes beyond food, encompassing supplements, exercise, relaxation, "detox baths," journaling, and even a "media diet" designed to pull us away from our stressful e 10-day plan is described in amazing detail. You're not left to choose foods on your own; Hyman dictates what to eat and gives recipes. Each day of the plan has a specific theme and your day will be laid out by Hyman. Example themes: Day 1: Satisfy (your body's cravings for amazing food). Day 5: Listen (to what's going on in your heart and mind). He also provides a plan for "transitioning" off the detox phase, including reintroducing foods that you'd eliminated and evaluating whether they cause you rough it all, Hyman is almost ridiculously thorough. This is both a strength and a weakness of the book. The sheer amount of info he gives you, and the huge amount of changes he's asking you to create at one time, could be overwhelming for some. So if you are considering this book, ask yourself: Am I the kind of person that likes everything explained and dictated to the utmost degree? If you are, this book will create you feel well taken care of, almost as if a kindly but firm parent were guiding you through every step of the way. If you are not, you may search the sheer all-encompassing quality of Hyman's plan overwhelming, since it goes far beyond changing your diet into changing nearly every aspect of your lifestyle, and a lot of aspects of the plan (besides food) are quite time-consuming. And a plan with 10 facets is much easier to trip up on than a plan with one or is plan can certainly be life-changing if you can work it. Personally, I preferred Hyman's Blood Sugar Solution, which provided a longer-term plan (6 weeks, which is more difficult but a more realistic time frame to see major changes in your health) and even more scientific background. If you're interested in whole-foods detox plans that don't encompass a lot of lifestyle changes and supplements, and don't dictate specific food plans, consider It Starts with Food which has a very related 30-day plan (the "Whole 30"). If you are interested in learning more about the science and history behind how our society ended up plagued by junk foods and obesity, and why easy carbohydrates kill, pick up the superb Good Calories, Poor Calories by Gary thing to be aware of: This plan will not be cheap in terms of time or money. You will have to pay for and prepare whole, new foods, replacing the cheap processed junk that provides fast calories and small nutrition. You will have to pay for supplements. You may even need to buy kitchen supplies if you haven't been in the habit of cooking. But "health is wealth" -- and in any case, you could eat prime rib every day for far less than it costs to treat the ills of "diabesity" with blood pressure medication, cholesterol drugs, metformin, insulin, etc.Ditching the toxic, processed, unnatural foods that our society pushes on us (with the government's help, as Hyman explains) and replacing them with the whole, nutritious foods our bodies were meant to have may be the most necessary change you ever create in your health. Hyman's 10-day plan is one method to create that change, and for a lot of people, it will be just the right way.

    First the negatives...Expensive: If I had the energy I would go back and list all of the supplements for future readers to see their cost alone. The recommended "super fiber" PGX is listed at $52.00 a bottle on Amazon. You could easily spend 150.00 on the initial Waste: Then there are the no repeat everyday food recipes. Hyman specifically tells you not to mix and match everyday meals. Hyman tells you his meals are nutritionally formulated for the ten days for optimal results. Unfortunately, the recipes are made for a family of four. Okay, so I suppose two people dieting could chop that recipe in half but single dieters would need to convert every single recipe. And even if you don't mind the recipe conversions, what do you do with the other half of the fennel bulb?Too Much Preaching/Too Small Diet: My initial reaction to the book was where's the diet? There's an poor lot of preaching about subjects, that as a fat diabetic, I'm highly aware of. For example, sugar is bad, mkay? Processed foods are bad, mkay? Carb spikes and drops create you hungry, mkay? While some of the info was useful and the studies cited were interesting, I wanted more info about his diet plan, specifically the transition phase and maintenance phase.False Advertisement: Dr Hyman cites as a resource his online community. This would be helpful for his fairly complex dieting system. I have a ton of questions about his transition and maintenance phase, because he devotes very small time to it. For instance, if his 10 day detox is specially formulated to meet specific nutritional needs, how would you move forward with this diet in the transition phase to ensure those needs are met? Hyman strongly suggests that weight loss success and blood sugar control is greatly attributed to community support. He tells you he has this unbelievable online community. Unfortunately the registration for that community has been closed since I created my purchase of his product. I've checked everyday for over a week. This zone of the website is "Relaunching Soon." No anticipated dates, no nothing.Unsustainable: Dr Hyman recommends that if you are diabetic or overweight, you need to continue with the 10 Day Detox Plan. The plan simply put, is meat, non-starchy vegetables along side, little portions of nuts, and a handful of berries. That means, no grains (of any sort), the elimination of almost all fruits, no starchy vegetables (even nutrient dense veggies), no dairy, and no pork. Okay then. How sustainable do you think that is?For the positives...Great Results: Within three days of following the diet my fasting sugars dropped from an average of 200 plus to below 100. My blood pressure dropped from 140/80 to 125/75. I've reduced my insulin by half and my Victoza injection by two thirds. Would I like to sustain this diet for those reasons alone? OF COURSE! But being a life long fat person and having done, Weight Watchers, Over Eaters Anonymous, Atkins, calorie counting, nutrition counseling classes and FAILED, I am cautiously optimistic that I will be able to sustain this very restrictive regiment, especially without the community support.Terrific Recipes: I'm on day seven of the diet and all but one of the recipes so far has been delicious and simple to make. They're yummy (well the morning shakes are less than desirable) and sustaining. If you like to cook, and I LOVE to cook, this is the plan for you. The thing that irked me about Weight Watchers when I did it was that it was too processed meal friendly. Inevitably during every meeting, participants would excitedly share their recent processed meal discovery that fits within the points plan. I'd leave each and every weekly meeting hungry simply becase of the packaged meal suggestions. My purchasing habits skewed towards less cooking and more convenience foods, which are generally loaded with preservatives and not amazing for blood sugar Weight Loss: If you are over weight the restricted caloric intake will guarantee weight loss.I really wish to like this book. I do. I am on day seven and plan to stick with the diet as long as possible. I would love to give this diet a higher rating, but until it's financially accessible to a larger audience and until the plan explanation and help is provided it falls into the "Just Okay" category.

    I really love the songs on this albums - really powerful collection of tunes about love lost and living in the urban world. At first listen, I was beautiful puzzled by the rhythm tracks with electronic drums and bass on a lot of of them but the strength of the songs carries thru. "Along for the Ride" and "Hold Your Fire" are very powerful and only Danny could have come up with the brilliant satire and stinging rebuke of "Just Like Eva Braun". Danny is a musician's musician - deeply respected by musicians, horribly unappreciated by the commercial recording industry.

    After seven years there's finally a fresh studio album from Femi Kuti and The Positive Force. The vibrant live album Africa Shrine (2004) forms the link between the two studio albums as it includes several songs from both. Day by Day also includes several "new" songs that have been part of Femi's live repertoire for the latest few years. While 2001's War to Victory featured several celebrity's from Hip Hop and RnB, this time it's just Femi Kuti and The Positive r convenience, I'll divide the songs on Day by Day into three categories. Number one is Femi's quick paced, catchy, Motown influenced trademark Afrobeat. These contain three exciting studio versions of songs like Oyimbo that were featured on Africa Shrine. At the same time there are also several fresh songs with very quick paced vocals from Femi and the gang like Demo e second category consists of songs that fall in the jazz-funk category. A amazing example is Do You Know in which Femi pays homage to his musical heroes (Coltrane, Ellington, his father and others). You Better ask Yourself is another amazing example. This album is Femi's most extensive foray into Jazz location so far in his career. Being no Jazz expert myself, I still think he does a amazing job!Now you're curious about the third category. A lot of may think that the term "ballad" doesn't exist in the Afrobeat vocabulary. This may or may not be the case, but Day by Day is a ballad for sure. It's a easy song as far as composition and lyrics are concerned, but at the same time it's a truly attractive song with a truly attractive message. It makes a amazing by Day was recorded in Paris in the summer of 2007. Femi is back playing trumpet, and is doing it better than ever. The forays into forms of Afro-American melody in no method compromise Femi's political message. The injustice and poverty in Africa is still the driving force behind Afrobeat, just as it was in the days of his father, Fela. This is a truly superb album; every song on it is a gem.     Its hard to say this is Femi Kuti's best album since all his albums have something unique to offer. This album is an affirmation of Femi's uniqueness and a testimony to his muscial versatility. My best picks are "Dem Funny', 'You better ask yourself', 'Tell Me', and 'They Will Run'. This album expresses the synergies between Jazz, Funk and Afrobeat and by extension, a collage of various musical styles. Other tracks contain studio versions of previously released songs like 'Eh Oh', '1,2,3' and 'Oyinbo'.Femi's melody in continuing in his fathers tradition,speaks to the social ills in Africa. This is without doubt a very commendable work of Afrobeat and a must own Album in the melody library of the jazz, funk, afrobeat aficionado.

    I bought this album when I happened to decide to check out the local cd store's globe melody section. I had no idea what I was getting into. I've known and loved Fela for years, and Seun's fresh album was also great, but Day By Day is something else completely. Kinda. It's very jazzy, and I can't stop listening to it; there's just so much to love. Every song can stand on its own, from the great, catchy, smooth, jazzy, awesome, rhythmic opener Oyimbo to Demo Crazy's crazy beats to One Two's african techno sickness to Let's Create History's optimistic close. Its beautiful...get it now. And see him live. Its great.

    I recently moved to an zone that gets a lot of snow, so I bought this to throw in my trunk, for emergencies. I did begin it and place it together, just to create sure it all works. I definitely could not use this as a regular shovel, as it's short and small, but this is excellent for emergencies. It assembles quickly and easily, and collapses the same, to take up less zone in your trunk. Don't just stick the whole box in your trunk, though, there is one part that needs to be screwed with a screwdriver, so create sure you assemble it, then collapse it.

Also amazing for the condo or apartment owner that does not wish to shop a messy wet shovel indoors.

    As you can see the shovel is well constructed. The tubes of the handle are nice and thick. The diameter of the tube is 1.1". When fully extended the shovel is 35 3/4 inches in length. It is just under 3'. When the shuffle is disassembled it takes about 18 1/2 inches of space. The shovel itself has a deep well for holding quite a bit of snow. At this point it has not snowed enough in Missouri to use it however I used it on leaves from the trees and it works extremely well for throwing quite a distance. Do you only difficulty that I have with the shovel itself is you need to have something to depress the pin a small further so it can slide easily out of the shovel. I would recommend this shovel for anybody who needs an emergency snow shovel in their vehicle. It would work quite well for bailing you out of any sort of jam.

    Woke up to a bit of snow and decided to pull this out just to create sure it works ok. It seems like a fine shovel. The steel piece at the end got nice and close to the pavement and gave the shovel some much required rigidity. The shovel itself is solid and holds a decent amount of snow. The handle extends to a decent length, so it was not too hard on my only complaint is that handle doesn't feel the strongest. It should keep up in an emergency, but I wouldn't wish to rely on it for regular use. It just feels like it will wear out over time.Overall, a fine emergency shovel with a decently long handle.

    It's simple to search really crummy shovels for kids that are for snow. I've owned several, and they eventually become brittle and die. At least this way, my children can use a shovel that can extend (or not extend) to their limited height, and they can support me shovel all this blasted snow.I've tried it myself with some really massive snow, and it works fine. There's definitely some wobble (since its only a spring-loaded "nub" that keeps it in alignment) but overall, especially for its purpose and price, I'm going to allow that slide.

    This shovel came just in time for our 1st NE snow storm. I was at work and had been plowed in by our companies snow removal contractor and this shovel did the job proudly. I kept this in my trunk for a “just in case” situation and I could not be happier for my purchase. This is compact unit so this will not take much room up even if you have a smaller car and has the strength and durability of a standard shovel you search at the local huge box stores. I would highly recommend this item for your mates and for your family. It could be a life saver. 5 ***** stars

     This is a decent snow shovel. Its very light weight but sturdy enough to do the job. The pole is extendable but even with the extention it is beautiful little - just a tad little for someone 5 ft. The shovel itself is normal sized so requires multiple iterations depending on the size of the zone you are trying to cover. So in short quality is nice but the pole and shovel both are a bit little and want would have been bigger. The handle Keeps getting loose

    This was a bonus from my girlfriend to place in my vehicle to obtain all the snow off. It works very amazing for that purpose. With it being short and compact using it as a regular snow shovel can be done but you are bending over to use it. I'm 6 ft and definitely have to bend over. Would be amazing for a child that wanted to support you shovel ;) It was extremely simple to assemble. All I had to do was push the pole in until it clicked and that's it. Again, amazing and compact for your vehicle or for a kid.

    This was a total waste of time and a few bucks! Unless you wish a tutorial to tell you how to obtain from the airport to only one zone in Athens with only one mode of transportation. Then to tell you to stay at one specific hotel, eat at specific restaurants they tell you and do not give you any choices whatsoever. If I wish that I would book a tour. This book is a joke, why would anyone just take the random tip of one person? Just because you wrote a guide? I however do research on the zone and like making my own choices from find results and opinions. But this tutorial gives you no choices whatsoever.!

    I like this more than "Interbabe Concern," which I found too insular, if understandable as it was the post-breakup exorcism of Scott Miller's recent private demons. This, the third LF full-length, it combines the poppier moments on "Tape of Only Linda" with the sprawling restlessness of the jittery debut "Plants & Birds (etc.)" "Days" deserved much more promotion and recognition, but I suppose indie record company woes accounted for its lack of a higher profile. Rectify this now; buy e trade-off of untitled instrumental interludes that comment and ping off of the ten standard (by comparison!) songs cleverly channels Miller's often winning but admittedly a bit exasperating brilliance. He resists simple categorizing, and his albums like to dash about from noise to inertia. What's a first in Miller's long career is that the ten-ten structure it gives him a template to work with, which such ambitious efforts as "Plants" and especially Android game Theory's undisciplined if lovable "Lolita Nation" lacked and (maybe?) another reviewer has detailed here, lyrical moments emerge often as this album's standout contributions to the legacy of Miller and company. GT/LF veteran Gil Ray combines with Kenny Kessel's bass to provide the solid, steady base upon which Miller's arrangements, guitar roamings, and lyrical angst can rise. This time, however, Alison Faith Levy's keyboards provide important ambiance and amazingly moving-- if all too short snippets of her own-- instrumental accomplishment. She rounds out the sound better than previous keyboardists in LF and GT did for Miller. Less tinkly, less of the new-wave synthetic tinkle that Miller has said he does love, perversely, I guess. (But that's precisely why "new wave" is a GT genre in musical references for GT on and off the Net, I suppose.)"Days" does have annoying bits, as I search on every Miller-penned album, but anybody who listens to him knows this is the norm for his approach. He needs to allow out all of the possibilities that he bottled up for a year or two, it seems, on each of his records. As a reviewer recommends, I would not advise a newcomer to start here, but with "Plants." Once you obtain Miller's groove, you can tolerate his eclecticism. It's up to us to sort out the diamonds from the dross. Yes, the cover's as awkward (if more colorful) as "Interbabe Concern," but the brighter tones of the outside enter to warm up into the recovery of Miller's balance between explosion and inversion. The best GT/LF moments are these, when Miller allows his band to fill out the depths and build the heights of the arrangements that he can thrash around within.

    Days for Days is not the right put to begin for someone wanting to obtain into Scott Miller (i.e., Android game Theory and The Loud Family). For that, head straight to either Interbabe Concern or Plants and Birds (both from the Louds). I remember getting Days for Days in 1998 and hoping for a smashing follow-up to '96's masterpiece Interbabe Concern. It wasn't quite to be, as this is a various kind of album. It took me a while to obtain comfortable listening to this r the uninitiated, here's The Loud Family in a nutshell: cultured, polished lyrics; perfect sound quality; breathtaking melodicism and intricate, ever-changing chord structures; juicy, high-pitched, up-front male vocals; inventive ere are nine songs here, and most of the time I program my CD player for the even-numbered tracks only. This would have created a stunning seven-song, seven-track EP. There are at least four gems here that easily measure up to anything Miller has ever done:"Good, There are No Lions in the Street" is a nicely restrained tune containing shrewd wordplay and, as another reviewer mentioned, that unbelievable tempo change. "Way Too Helpful" is one of the most gorgeous tunes Miller has done in his career. "Businessmen are okay" is quirky but catchy, actually sort of in a related vein to "One More for St. Michael" (from Android game Theory). "Why We Don't Live in Mauritania" is almost worth one star all by itself, just classic, classic Miller!"Mozart Sonatas" just never grabbed me, and "Crypto-Sicko" seems a bit awkward and overwrought. The other three tunes are quite decent but wouldn't be included in my fantasy "Loud Family's Greatest Hits" collection. Still, there are things to like and love about almost everything on Days for Days. Highly recommended for those who are already fans but haven't bought it yet (if you're new, obtain the far more accessible Interbabe Concern). It's a bit like Tape of Only Linda -- that album is widely acknowledged as not being up to the standards set by other Miller works, but it still includes three of the greatest essential Miller songs ever -- "It Just Wouldn't Be Christmas," "Still its Own Reward," and "Ballet Hetero."

This outing hasn't really found its method into my pantheon of greats...there are some decent tracks, but everything feels slightly bitty, with hard pointy edges and small flow, at both the level of individual tracks and the album as a whole. I wouldn't recommend it as a starting point for the Family.

    Smart-aleck but never [email protected]#$%, the Beatles-inspired Loud Family is more meticulous and literate than latest Guided by Voices, with whom it shares a muse, and brainier than just about anyone. More evidence has arrived, in the form of the S.F.-based quartet's fresh release. The nine songs are beautiful straightforward arty power pop, easier first listens than those on 1996's brilliant but somewhat cramped "Interbabe Concern" (if not as glistening as 1993's gorgeous "Plants and Birds and Rocks and Things"); each song is preceded by a one-minute shard of throwaway interlude, but after the first play-through, you'll just program all of them out, so don't worry about it. Despite the unpredictable arrangements and songwriter/producer Scott Miller's acquired-taste singing (with slightly jarring harmonies by fresh keyboardist Alison Faith Levy), there's plenty of straight-ahead rocking -- check out the grinding "Deee-Pression" -- and enough guitar hooks and sparkling music to transform Miller's cascades of puns and private and geographic references into bright singalong chants (just test to obtain the warm chorus of "Crypto-Sicko" out of your head). And as an added bonus, in the bouncy "Cortex the Killer," he even name-checks his hometown of Sacramento for the first time since his '80s days fronting Davis-based indie heroes Android game Theory!

    Consider Track 1 as a barrier to entry, and jump over it into the beauty and poetry of the rest of this album. When I first listened to Days for Days, after hearing "Good, There Are No Lions in the Street," I hit the stop button and played that song again, and a third time, in order to wrap my mind around it. I'd never heard any song like it. Within weeks, I was forever hooked on the songwriting of Scott Miller, on the Loud Family, and on his previous band Android game Theory.
